FOR the second year in-a-row, the Port Adelaide Football Club will travel to Queensland’s Sunshine Coast for a pre-season training camp.
Having visited Noosa in 2018, the Power will this year spend seven days from December 12-18 in Maroochydore.
The club will make use of the Sunshine Coast Sports Hub at Lake Kawana – a state-of-the-art high-performance training and rehabilitation facility.
Senior Assistant Coach Michael Voss said this year’s camp would build on the side’s pre-season so far and send the players into their Christmas break with a strong block of training.
“We’re going to have access to some really good facilities,” he said.
“Having two ovals there is a big benefit, and we’ll be able to access a few other activities in the area that we’d like to incorporate as part of the camp.
“It’s a fantastic chance to get away together, spend some time together and get to know each other more, just by being in each other’s presence 24/7.
“We’ll also take the opportunity to build some conditioning in the players’ bodies.
“The load we’ll put on the players will be ramped up massively. It’ll be one of the hardest weeks of the whole pre-season before the boys go on their Christmas break, so they’ll work hard and back up for session after session with some team building around that.”
Port Adelaide will have several new faces on the camp including a host of draftees from last week’s NAB AFL Draft.
