PORT ADELAIDE duo Connor Rozee and Dan Houston have both been recognised with selection in the AFL Players' Association 2019 22under22 squad of 40 players.
The AFL Players’ Association Board selected the squad of 40 players with the support from Champion Data. It is a concept that was introduced to reward young players for having an impact at their club in the early stages of their careers.
Rozee was selected with pick no.5 in the 2018 NAB AFL Draft, and has played every game in his first season at the Power to date.
The 19-year-old has averaged 15 disposals, four tackles, four marks and more than a goal a game in his opening year in senior football.
The exciting forward was also nominated for the NAB AFL Rising Star Award for his five-goal performance against Brisbane in Round 3.
Houston has had a career-best year in 2019, transitioning from the half-back flank to a more influential midfield role throughout the season.
The 22-year-old has had career-highs for kicks (18 vs Adelaide), handballs (17 vs GWS), disposals (29 vs Essendon) and goals (two vs Essendon) this season.
Houston has now played 57 career games to date after being selected with pick no.45 in the 2016 rookie draft.
Co-captain Ollie Wines was the last Power player selected in a final AFLPA 22under22 side, with his selection in 2017. Wines also made the 2016 team.
Fans are now asked to vote for the final team, with the 22under22 concept recognising the best 22 players under the age of 22.
Every player who is selected in the final 22under22 side will be presented with a guernsey at the MVP Awards night on August 29.
The fan whose team is best matched by the final team will be awarded a prize from the AFL Players’ Association.
