It has long been a staple of Port Adelaide’s High-Performance program and now the club has formalised its relationship with Red Bull, as part of a new partnership.
The world’s highest selling energy drink has come on board just ahead of the club’s opening game of the 2020 AFL Premiership Season.
The unique, non-traditional partnership, will see Port Adelaide become one of the first clubs Red Bull has partnered with.
“It’s really exciting to formalise a relationship with Red Bull, which we’ve been utilising for a number of years to help with our program,” said Port Adelaide’s Head of High-Performance, Ian McKeown.
“Red Bull Energy Drink has been our preferred source of caffeine as part of pre-training and pre-game performance protocols.
“Red Bull has long been synonymous with high-performance and elite sporting success.
“Their company stands at the forefront of human performance, which aligns perfectly with the Port Adelaide Football Club’s High-Performance team and the club overall.”
Among the athletes in the Red Bull family is Port Adelaide’s reigning John Cahill Medallist, Travis Boak, who has been a Red Bull athlete for 3.5 years.
“Red Bull’s support of Travis has allowed him to have the best preparation possible, particularly over the last few pre-seasons but it has also been a support to the entire squad,” McKeown said.
“We are excited to take that to another level with our new relationship.”
Others in the Red Bull stable include three-time world surfing champion Mick Fanning, world champion canoeist Jessica Fox, three-time world champion snowboarder Scotty James and Supercars champion Craig Lowndes.
