Port Adelaide, in partnership with Jumpgate VR, will tonight premiere the first part of a virtual reality 360 degree video content series taking Port Adelaide supporters into the inner-sanctum of game-day.
The content was captured during Port Adelaide’s round 1 game against the Gold Coast Suns last weekend and will take supporters behind-the-scenes including players preparing in the changerooms to warming up on-field pre-game to debutant Mitch Georgiades’ guernsey presentation.
The series will premiere later today with an immersive look at the team singing the team song after its 47-point victory.
Port Adelaide GM – Media and Communications Daniel Norton says the club is excited about providing innovative opportunities for Port Adelaide members and supporters to connect with the club.
“We understand this is a very difficult time for everyone. Clearly, our members and supporters are unable to come and physically engage with the club and players at the moment, so in the absence of that we want to bring the club and its players closer to our people,” Mr Norton said.
“Using immersive, highly interactive VR technology is a very innovative way we can bring our community closer.
“The technology is extraordinary. Our people will literally feel like they are in the changerooms with our players, as part of the team. And this is what we are looking to achieve as our members and supporters are literally a huge part of our team.
“As demonstrated recently through our 150th club documentary, storytelling is at the heart of everything we do at Port Adelaide and we will continue to share stories with our members and supporters in many varied and different ways moving forward.
“We have enjoyed a wonderful partnership with Jumpgate VR dating as far back to 2015 when we returned to Adelaide Oval. During that time we took our people inside the team running out onto the ground in front of a packed Adelaide Oval which was incredible.
“We thank Anton Andreacchio and his team at Jumpgate for their support and we look forward to working with them more across the year.”
Jumpgate Managing Director Anton Andreacchio says the project is about giving back. “Port Adelaide has been a great friend to us over the years and we understand it’s a tough time for so many people.”
“As football fans ourselves, we wanted to bring as much of the game experience into people’s homes whilst the regular season is on hiatus.”
“We’re proud to be able to get involved, even in a small way, to help support the media team and the club.”
The virtual reality content series can be viewed via the club’s Facebook page using the 360 function and via the Port Adelaide club app. Virtual reality distribution options are also being explored.
