PORT ADELAIDE Assistant Coach Brendon Lade says getting the mix of tall and small options in the forward half will be a focus for Port this year.
The club added depth to their list throughout last year’s free agency and draft periods, with a focus on scoring and efficiency going inside forward 50.
“We’ve got some tall players who we think can add to our forward line and help us kick big scores,” Lade said on Friday morning.
“But we will keep mixing it around and make sure we get it right.”
Lade was happy with the performance of Port’s big key forward against West Coast in JLT
“Charlie Dixon was pretty good again last week,” he said.
“But you add in Watts, Motlop, Aidyn Johnson – Todd Marshall plays this week as well – so it’s going to be great for the club to get all of these guys playing.
“Our challenge as coaches is to get them all playing well together.”
Port host the Crows for the first time at Alberton Oval in an AFL-sanctioned
“It’s great for the Crows to come to the suburban ground at Alberton – get all of the Crows supporters down to the heartland, and hopefully we get a good result here,” he said.
“It’s not just great for our fans, but the community as well. The local community around here
“The local businesses will be on
“Hopefully we get a big crowd and a good game to go with it.”
Chad Wingard and Jared Polec return to the side after recovering from injury niggles, while Travis Boak is a late withdrawal as a precaution after reporting some hamstring tightness.
Ollie Wines will captain the side against the Crows, with Jake Neade replacing Boak in the 26-man squad.
