Defence recognition program
Power Community Ltd had the privilege of hosting the Australian Defence Force recently as part of the AFL ANZAC Round.
The Australian Defence Force (ADF) selected their best footy team from across Australia and played against a representative side from the Emergency Services. The ADF team trained at Alberton Oval and were briefed by Peter Rohde, GM of Football Operations. In return, Brigadier Matt Hall from the Australian Army addressed Power players at their training prior to the clash with West Coast Eagles.
The AFL ANZAC Round was a great success with the Power defeating the Eagles and Hamish Hartlett winning the Peter Badcoe VC Medal. More than 100 guests from the Defence Industry attended a VIP function including the RSL, Legacy, Soldier On, the Repat Foundation, Defence Teaming Centre, Defence Community Organisation, Defence Reserves Support, Optimistic Kids, Veterans SA, the Department of Veterans Affairs and the ACH Group.
The AFL ANZAC Round is an important part of the Defence Recognition Program created by Power Community Ltd to engage veterans, current ADF staff and their families, and the broader defence industry. A range of activities are scheduled across the year including a Resilience Program for children of defence families in partnership with Optimistic Kids, Defence Community Organisation and the Department of Defence.
Power Community Ltd is the community development arm of Port Adelaide Football Club. We look forward to developing new partnerships with the defence industry.
