A BRAND new junior membership has been launched by the Port Adelaide Football Club which will bring children aged 2-6 into an exciting fantasy world tailored just for them.
The Power Pirateers will see Port Adelaide bring families back to the footy and engage children whose interest in the game is still developing.
Power Pirateers sits alongside Port Adelaide’s established junior membership program for 2015 and will create a fun and exciting world of fantasy adventure through the journey of new characters Jack Lightning and Daisy Cutter, who inhabit an island world full of pirates, Power and footy.
The concept, created in conjunction with Adelaide-based creative agency Big Red Dog, is potentially the most comprehensive membership program targeted at children in both the AFL and Australian sport.
It will feature a redesigned Power Pirateers pack which will be available for $40 at the launch of the 2015 Port Adelaide membership campaign in late November, a reading program and a tailored family zone at the Power’s home games.
It’s all part of providing a new experience that the whole family can enjoy, according to Port Adelaide’s chief executive officer Keith Thomas.
“The Power Pirateers are all about fun, footy and friendship and we believe this bold new membership program will give young kids a great opportunity to participate in our football club,” said Mr Thomas.
“We’ll follow the adventures of Jack and Daisy in years to come as they learn to play our great game.
“We hope that parents and children alike will love our new book series and we will be releasing the first book in partnership with The Advertiser in December.
"Our research shows 20-35 year olds with small children often struggle to get to our home games, but with our new Pirateers family zone at the Adelaide Oval we'll be making it easier for young families to come to see the Power play.
“This new membership experience is available exclusively for young supporters aged 2-6, from there they’ll ‘graduate’ into our very successful and highly football-focussed junior membership program for 7-14 year olds.
“We are very excited about the opportunity to bring Port Adelaide supporters into the world of footy through the Power Pirateers and we can’t wait to bring Jack and Daisy’s world to the Adelaide Oval in 2015 and beyond.”
The adventures of Jack and Daisy take place on a faraway ancient island where they learn to play a new, football-like game with a band of scruffy pirate friends and, just like the real Power, they never, ever give up.
