Macca’s Top 5

I’m running out of superlatives for Jared. Just put on a show with his pace and ability to read the play better than almost anyone else on the park. Just knows where to run and can see the moves happening a few seconds before his opponents. Thought his kicking was great and he was involved in a lot of great 1-2s that really opened up the play. That goal running out of the centre....stunning. Best on ground for mine.
Travis Boak
What a star. High in our best players and put in a brilliant 4 quarter performance tonight. Thought Hawthorn would have tried more to stop him but he kept working so damn hard all across the field. Just dominated the centre square and is so creative with his hands. Great captains effort once again.
Robbie Gray
Not the quantity of the ball we've seen from him this year but jeez he was still brilliant. Just so calm with the ball in his hands and everything seems to slow down around him as he dodges and weaves and gets his hands free to dish off a super creative handball to a running opponent. 2 goals again so good to see him continue his goal scoring.
Kane Cornes
Had a really good battle against Hill on a wing. Thought Kane was brilliant in his usual way of finding space to win the ball and he used it very well again tonight. Hill was damaging at times but certainly down on his normal output and influence that we've seen this year. It’s good to see Kane doing some fine jobs on players that you don't think he'd be suited to anymore.
Matt Lobbe
Thought he was very good in his ability to find our players with the ball for all bar a 5 minute period in the 3rd quarter. Had very much the better of McEvoy and then beat Hale and Ceglar pretty convincingly in the 2nd half. Just needs to do a bit more around the ground. Would like to see him clunk some marks at some point.
Best of the young players
Ollie Wines
Went into beast mode again with a great effort in the packs. Found space on the wings a few times. Just loves the contest.
Jarman Impey
Was a bit sloppy with the ball in the first half but worked his way into the game well. Thought defensively he was excellent on Puopolo and really stopped him having any influence in the forward 50. Had a great second half. Just needs to work on his disposal early in the game.
