ANGUS Monfries will face scans on his hamstring this week to determine the extent of his injury, but is likely to miss weeks due to the injury.

Chad Wingard meanwhile, will be monitored during the week after injuring his ankle.

Monfries clutched at his right hamstring while chasing a Brad Ebert kick midway through the third quarter.

He immediately called for medical attention and limped off, taking the red vest after he’d come from the ground.

High Performance Manager Darren Burgess said Monfries would have scans to determine the extent of his injury.

“We’re not too sure at this stage how bad it is,” Burgess told portadelaidefc.com.au.

“He was forced from the ground and was unable to run out the game, so obviously we’ll have to wait on the results of the scans.”

Wingard struggled to work his way back into the game after spending an extended period on the bench in the third quarter having rolled his ankle while kicking a goal.

He returned to the field briefly in the third quarter and played out the game, but will need to prove his fitness during the week if he is to take his place against the Lions in Round 4.

“We’ll monitor Chad this week, but the fact he was able to return to the ground was a good sign,” Burgess said.

Jay Schulz aggravated his pre-existing foot injury, but was able to play out the game.

“We’ll continue to monitor Jay’s injury as we have over the past few weeks, but he should be ok to play next week.”

Tom Jonas was forced from the field with a cut to his right eye. The rugged defender was patched up and returned to the game.
