37 players – potentially 36 – will be available for selection in the major round as part of a finals qualification rule agreed to by the club when it restructured its football program at the end of 2013.
Under the rule, all of Port Adelaide’s AFL-listed players will be eligible to play in the club’s SANFL campaign, so long as the Power remains active in September.
Should the club be eliminated from the AFL finals, which begin on the weekend of 5-7 September (the same weekend as the club’s SANFL semi-final against the winner of Norwood and Sturt), then only certain players will be eligible to play for the Magpies.
The qualification criteria for the club’s SANFL finals campaign are as follows:
- No qualification criterial for AFL-listed players during the SANFL finals series when the Port Adelaide Football Club is still involved at AFL level.
- Should Port Adelaide not be involved at AFL level, a player must have played either:
? The majority of his football at SANFL level or;
? Three of the last five games at SANFL level to qualify.
In the event Port Adelaide is eliminated from the AFL Finals Series, the following players would be eligible to play in the club’s SANFL campaign:
