HAMISH Hartlett has been ruled out for four to five weeks with a hamstring injury.

Scans revealed a tear in Hartlett’s right hamstring, suffered in the loss to the Bulldogs in Round 12.

Head fitness coach Cam Falloon said the scans showed a grade one to two tear, but was confident Hartlett would bounce back.

“He’s played every game this year and hasn’t had a soft tissue injury for a couple of years, so it was just one of those things that happen in footy,” Falloon said.

“He’s had a good attitude to recovery in the past so I’ve got no doubt he’ll be back.”

It is a cruel blow for Hartlett and compounds the Power’s injury woes following the news Jackson Trengove will miss a month with a finger injury.

Jay Schulz’s condition continued to improve following internal bleeding suffered in a knock from teammate Justin Westhoff.

Falloon said it was pleasing to see Schulz’s condition improving so rapidly over the past 24 hours.

“The bleeding has stopped and we’re hoping he’ll be released within the next 24-48 hours.”

Schulz is expected to miss between three and four weeks.

Meanwhile, Steven Salopek will face a fitness test on a knee injury, which ruled him out of the Magpies loss to the Bulldogs on Saturday.

Salopek was a late withdrawal having been named in the team on Thursday night, but is still a chance to face the Eagles at Alberton this Saturday.

The news was good for Paul Stewart and Jacob Surjan, with the pair cleared to play in Round 14 against Geelong.

Stewart suffered hamstring tightness during Sunday’s game but scans have shown no damage to the muscle.

Surjan was cleared of any damage to his head after receiving a knock to it during the game. The injury forced Surjan to be subbed off, replaced by rookie Chad Wingard.
