Tippett out, Franklin cleared for Swans
Ex-Crow forced out by knee problems, Ex-Hawk cleared by MRP.
But fellow key forward Lance Franklin will be free to play for the flag favourites after being cleared of wrongdoing in an incident on the weekend.
Sydney coach John Longmire confirmed Tippett would miss two games with a minor operation to repair cartilage in his left knee.
Power to assess five injuries ahead of Swans clash
“He’s got a little bit of cartilage that requires a minor operation,” Longmire told sydneyswans.com.au.
“He’s having an arthroscope today in which case they’ll trim a little bit of cartilage that’s just been catching.
“It’s a minor operation and he will miss two games and will likely be back in three weeks’ time.”
While the loss of Tippett will hurt the Swans’ mighty attack, the Power’s defence will still have its work cut out for them with in-form stars Franklin and Adam Goodes playing high quality football up forward.
The Swans made short work of the Suns last weekend when Franklin conceded a free kick for a late bump on Clay Cameron.
But the AFL Match Review Panel deemed there was insufficient force in the bump to warrant a penalty.
Port Adelaide plays Sydney at the SCG on Saturday 14 June at 2:10pm.
