FOLLOWING a successful trade period, Port Adelaide's football analyst Chris Sheedy sits down with portadelaidefc.com.au to shed some light on what new recruits Jared Polec and Matt White will bring to Alberton in 2014.

Jared Polec
Averaging just under 12 possesssions per game in his short AFL career, Jared Polec comes to us at Port Adelaide with a great deal of potential.

Polec averaged 32.7 'metres gained' per kick - which places him as an 'elite' player in this category.

For comparision, Hamish Hartlett aveaged 32.6 metres gained, which is also elite.

If Polec can develop his ability to find the football on a more consistent basis (that means 20+ disposals) his total metres gained would be over 400 metres per game which in turn would allow for improved ball movement for our team.

Port Adelaide will be hoping Polec develops a balance of contested ball on top of his ability to gain possession on the outside.

Polec has elite agility and his ability to remain calm in pressure situations will be a huge boost to a playing group already known for its ability to win when their backs are against the wall.

Matt White
Matt made a name for himself as Richmond's 'Super Sub' in 2013.

He started as the substitute on eight occasions, which was the equal-second most in the AFL with our very own Kane Mitchell.

Averaging nearly 20 disposals per 100 minutes when on the field as a sub, White became a pivotal impact player for the Tigers.

Port Adelaide will be hoping this form as a substitute carries over into full games in 2014.

White is known for both his speed and defensive pressure, averaging 30.7 average pressure points per game according to Champion Data (Robbie Gray averages 30.8).
