'Jake's guernsey' important to us: Lobbe
The Port Adelaide playing group is right behind Jake Neade in the lead up to his first premiership season match in his home state where he will wear his country's totem on the Power guernsey.
It's the totem of their lands and language group - an area that expands across a small area in the mid-north of the territory.
It is also the country of Port Adelaide player Jake Neade.
Neade, 19, grew up in the small regional town of Elliott, some 700 kilometres south of Darwin.
Elliott is in Jingili country and after his strong start to the year, the region certainly represents a place of significance for Neade's teammates at the club.
On Saturday night, Port Adelaide's players will don 22 guernseys, each adorned with 22 emus, in recognition of the Jingili community.
The club wants the 'fast and furious' emu to reflect the way the team plays on Saturday night.
Port Adelaide has played nine premiership games in Darwin since the first regular match in 2004 - more than any AFL club.
The announcement of the club's Central Corridor Strategy will see the club work hard for an increased presence in the Territory capital.
For the players, the opportunity to come to Darwin and this weekend wear a specially-designed guernsey bearing the emblem of Neade's country is a unique one.

Travelling emergency Matthew Lobbe spoke to the local media at a press conference launching Coles' sponsorship of Saturday night's match.
"It's very special coming up here to Darwin, we love coming up and have been for a few years," said Lobbe.
"We got up here on Thursday so we'll spend a few days up here together, spend time with each other and get out into local communities and get amongst the population we don't usually get to get around.
"It's a special game for us and we're looking forward to it."
Lobbe says the community support for Port Adelaide this weekend is increasing, particularly with the club's new 'NT guernsey'.
"We played in Alice Springs in the NAB Cup, we've got Jakey and his family and the community of Elliott behind us now so it feels like we've got a big part of the Northern Territory behind us."
Port Adelaide plays the Western Bulldogs at TIO Stadium in Marrara at 7:10pm on Saturday night.
