JUSTIN WESTHOFF has been recognised for his outstanding season by winning the 2013 Coaches Award.

Westhoff, 26, had arguably his best season for Port Adelaide, playing in 23 of the Power’s 24 games in 2013.

He became “Mr Fix-it”, spending time up forward to kick 31 goals, but also rotating through the ruck, wing and defence whenever the coaches needed him.

Westhoff's early season form was scintillating, booting bags of five, four and three in consecutive weeks from Rounds 2-4.

His versatility and incredible running ability made him a nightmare match-up for opposition coaches.

He was also flying high, taking a Mark of the Year nomination against the Giants in Round 2.

And while his goal from a near impossible angle in the dying minutes of the Semi-Final against the Cats wasn't eligible for Goal of the Year, it's been widely recognised as the best goal for 2013.

The Coaches Award is given by the coaches to the player who best upholds the team values of competitiveness, trust and selflessness.

Director of Coaching Alan Richardson said Westhoff was the complete professional and deserved the award.
