JACK HOMBSCH has been awarded the inaugural John McCarthy Award at the club’s Best & Fairest night.
The award, named in honour of the late John McCarthy, recognises outstanding service to the community when representing the club and is decided by the leadership group and coaches.
Brad Ebert presented the award on behalf of the McCarthy family and said Jack was a worthy winner.
“Hombschy represents the club impeccably in everything he does,” Ebert said.
“At school visits and footy clinics, Jack’s an absolute standout. He always goes that extra mile to make sure the kids feel special.
“Jack does extra work in the community with a Down Syndrome charity, a cause close to his heart. He embodies what this award is all about and I’m pleased to present it to him.”
Hombsch, 20, moved to the Power at the end of 2012 as part of a trade with the Giants.
He played six games for the Power after debuting against the Bulldogs in Round 10 in Darwin.
