Dear Members and Supporters,

What an incredible season it has been thus far!

I don’t know about you, but I am just loving the commitment of our lads at the moment.

The Power are playing a brand of footy that is both exciting and brutally competitive, and the Magpies have shown over the past five weeks true grit, resilience and passion for the guernsey. Both teams have set themselves for an enormous second half of the year.

Premiership Fund

I wanted to remind you of this important initiative, and many thanks to those of you who have already joined up.

Launched at the start of the season, this fund is unique in that all proceeds go directly to the football department and your contribution is only activated when the Power wins. Here’s an overview of how the fund is working thus far.

-There are currently 577 people contributing to the Premiership Fund.
-Each win equates to a contribution of $8500, around $15 per contributor.
-In May we purchased our first piece of equipment from funds derived directly from the Premiership Fund – an anti-gravity treadmill known as the ‘AlterG’.

Jackson Trengove’s ability to resume from an eight week injury and play as well as he did on Saturday, is very largely as a result of his training on the ‘AlterG’. It’s important stuff.

The two principle ideas behind the Premiership Fund are simple:

1. Many hands make light work. My vision is for thousands of our supporters, contributing at whatever level they can comfortably afford, knowing they are directly helping us build a competitive football program. We are all on this special journey.

2. Give before you take. We want to EARN your support - only a win will activate your Premiership Fund contribution. Your Club membership is a tangible, unconditional show of support for your Club. So is buying a cap or a scarf. This is different. The Premiership Fund is about rewarding success, and helping us ensure that we can continue to provide the team with the resources it needs to stay competitive.

We’ve got an exciting new team, promising plenty.

We have a coaching group bursting with ideas to give us an edge.

The AlterG has already shown the benefits that can be derived from smart investments. I guarantee you it would not have been possible without the premiership fund.

We have over 300,000 supporters, 41,000 members and 577 Premiership Fund contributors.

Just imagine if we could encourage just 3% of our supporter base to contribute $5 per winning game…and we won 10 games in a season.

$50 per supporter… equates to $450,000 to the football program. It makes a real difference.

So over to you. If you feel willing and able to throw some more support behind the team, and help us to bridge the gap in the AFL arms race, we’d love to hear from you. Yes, we are improving financially, but we remain nearly $2m per annum below the average football department spend in the AFL. We continue to only be able to afford to operate at 95% of the player salary cap, which puts us in the bottom 4 Clubs for football investment. We are fighting well above our weight!

But that’s Port Adelaide’s way isn’t it?!

Can’t wait to get to Etihad this week!

Regards,
KT
