Natural gas to "fire-up" Port Adelaide
Envestra has extended its premier partnership with the Port Adelaide Football Club for the 2014 season and will continue to appear on all coaches uniforms.
This partnership will see Envestra continue as the coaches’ sponsor with its famous blue flame appearing on the polo shirts of the entire coaching team.
Envestra, South Australia’s fifth largest stock exchange listed company, has been a premier partner of the club since the start of 2011 with its logo emblazoned over the players’ shorts for the first two seasons. Last year, when Ken Hinkley was appointed Port Adelaide’s new senior coach, the Company became the club’s coaches’ sponsor for the first time.
Envestra’s Managing Director Ian Little said “The partnership with Port Adelaide had proven to be successful for both parties.”
“It has helped, and will continue, to provide an opportunity for Envestra to communicate its message on the benefits of natural gas,” Mr Little said.
“Since coming on board as a premier partner in 2011, the Port Adelaide Football Club has improved immensely.
“The club has developed into a team that is now very much respected by other AFL teams after winning a final and finishing the season in fifth position.”
Mr Little congratulated Port Adelaide senior coach Ken Hinkley for being awarded the AFL Coaches Association Coach of the Year for 2013 and looked forward with excitement to the club’s move to the Adelaide Oval from next season.
“We expect that the move to the Adelaide Oval in 2014 will bring further success for both Port Adelaide and natural gas,” Mr Little said. “Envestra has upgraded the gas supply to the Oval to meet the increased crowds expected at this magnificent new facility.”
“We look forward to extending our relationship with Port Adelaide and working with the club to promote the benefits of clean and green natural gas.”
Port Adelaide chief executive Keith Thomas said the club was thrilled to continue its partnership with Envestra.
“Port Adelaide is delighted that Envestra has extended its partnership as premier partner with the club,” Mr Thomas said.
“Envestra has been an important part of our growth as a football club since 2011 and as coaches’ sponsor contributed to our revival in 2013.
“Last season we embarked on a new era with Ken Hinkley as senior coach and Alan Richardson as director of coaching. There was a great sense of excitement around but as with any change a sense of the unknown.
“So at the time of Envestra coming on board last season as coaches’ sponsor there was a bit of uncertainty about our club. But the team at Envestra were bold and committed and on behalf of the club I thank them for the faith they showed in us.
“We now look forward to Envestra continuing their support as Ken and his coaching team look to build on the foundations they set last season.”
Mr Thomas said that it was great to be associated with a South Australian-based company that was so dedicated to the community.
“To be associated with a South Australian-based company that is one of Australia’s largest gas distributors has been an honour and we look forward to continuing our great relationship.
“Significantly, Envestra, like Port Adelaide, has a strong commitment to the community. The Company has supported our unique Power to End Hunger program with Foodbank.”
Envestra has networks in South Australia, Victoria, Queensland, New South Wales and the Northern Territory and delivers natural gas to over one million customers, with its head office based in Adelaide.
