IT would be unfair – at least on the surface – to demote a player from the team that defeated the reigning premiers Sydney last weekend.

But there are a number of names in the mix for selection this week, with several players set to return from injury.

Jackson Trengove is at the top of that list.

The Power’s centre half back will be assessed on Wednesday to determine whether he is fit to lineup for Port Adelaide against Collingwood this weekend.

The 197cm defender was slated for assessment this week after recovering from an injured foot.

Who he pushes out of the side will be determined at the selection table and could prove to be a decision based on structure as much as it could be on form.

Also in the mix to return is John Butcher, who has recovered from tonsillitis that grounded him ahead of the Swans match, and Paul Stewart who was also a late withdrawal with a back complaint.

Small forward Cameron Hitchcock is also set to become available after rolling his ankle against the Giants.

Captain Travis Boak will be touch-and-go he selection table as his fractured finger come under the scrutiny of club medical staff.

Although Boak is determined to return against the Magpies on Saturday, doctors may elect to sit him out for the second of two originally forecast weeks instead.

And there are several others in form in the SANFL, particularly Nathan Blee who clocked 28 touches for North Adelaide last weekend in a continuation of several good weeks of form.

Port Adelaide injury list

John Butcher – illness (assess)
Sam Colquhoun – hamstring (assess)
Cameron Hitchcock – rolled ankle (assess)
Paul Stewart – back (assess)
Jackson Trengove – foot (assess)
Jarrad Redden – hip (season)

Enemy Lines: Collingwood

Some big names might find themselves published in the teams on Thursday night with gun forward Travis Cloke to undergo a fitness test for the Woods, while Luke Ball is also in the mix to play after recovering from a calf injury.

Their inclusion in Collingwood’s side will make Port’s matchup job much harder and the particular selection of Cloke would increase the importance of a big, key defender like Trengove getting a recall for Saturday’s match.
