Wingard leads tight battle in supporters' award
Chad Wingard holds a narrow lead over Travis Boak with three rounds to go in the Official Supporters' Player of the Year Award
Monfries’ performance against the Cats saw him gather 19 kicks and 8 marks in what was his most impressive display thus far in the Port Adelaide colours.
Supporters are able to vote each week for their best three players. The three players who receive the highest number of votes for that week will be awarded 3,2,1 votes in a Brownlow style count.
Ruckman Matthew Lobbe polled well with two votes after racking up an incredible 59 hit-outs, the third highest hit-out tally in the history of the game.
Lobbe went into the game as a solo ruckman and collected 17 touches, helping Port Adelaide win the clearances 43 to 30.
Captain Travis Boak’s efforts were again noticed by supporters after earning one vote for his 30 touches and one goal.
Young gun Chad Wingard continues to sit atop of the leader board as his stellar season continues.
The small forward has been outstanding for the Power this year and has earned the right to be in contention for an All-Australian spot.
With three games left and the Supporters’ Play of the Year Award up for grabs, Travis Boak (22) sits five points behind Chad Wingard (27) in what should be an exciting finish.
