Nothing is taken for granted: Boak
With Carlton, West Coast and North Melbourne pressuring for a spot in the top eight, Port Adelaide captain Travis Boak says his teammates are taking nothing for granted with three games remaining.
The Power sits in eighth spot, two games clear of Carlton, West Coast, North Melbourne, Adelaide and Brisbane with three matches to go.
"We're still a fair way off. West Coast are coming hard, North Melbourne are coming hard and Carlton are thereabouts and we've got them [in the] last round," Boak said.
"These last three are really important ... it could be anyone's spot.
"We want to go in with a lot of form and that's all we’re focusing on."
Boak's Power faces Gold Coast on Saturday, a side that has shown dramatic improvement in 2013.
They've already won seven games, compared to the three they won last year.
Boak was full of praise for the developing Suns but insisted overconfidence wouldn't be an issue for the Power on Saturday.
As well as superstar Gary Ablett, Boak talked up the ability of Dion Prestia and Jaeger O'Meara.
Defender Tom Jonas is likely to return for the Power this weekend after a three-week suspension for his bump on St Kilda's Dylan Roberton in round 17.
Speaking at the launch of a joint initiative between the Power and Bendigo Bank to supply healthy breakfasts to 20 SA schools, Boak said Jonas was a "vital" component of the Power's defence but he wasn't guaranteed an immediate call-up.
"He's been super for us all year, he's a great stopper for us down there and all you have to do is play on him at training to know how hard he is and how important he is to our team," he said.
"He's a vital part of the side…'Bleesy' (Nathan Blee) came in and did a really good job and he'll be tough to kick out.
"It's going to be interesting to see what they do."
