PORT Adelaide forward Angus Monfries has been cleared by the Match Review Panel for any wrongdoing for his tackle on Eagle Matt Priddis.

The Match Review Panel assessed the incident as follows:

Contact between Port Adelaide’s Angus Monfries and West Coast’s Matt Priddis from the first quarter of Saturday’s match was assessed. Priddis had taken possession of the ball and was immediately tackled by Monfries. Monfries takes the West Coast player to the ground with his tackle in one action. It was the view of the panel that Monfries’ tackle was not an inherently dangerous tackle and Priddis was not slung or driven into the ground with excessive force, but the West Coast player was adversely affected by the momentum of a legal tackle. No further action was taken.

Priddis was stretchered from the ground but fortunately was able to walk into the rooms. He did not return to the game and is listed as a test for Round 6.
