Number Crunch Port Adelaide v GWS Giants
Port Adelaide dominated most statistical aspects of Saturday night's game but its clearances will need to improve ahead of this weekend's encounter with Adelaide.
End Game
After quarter time the Port boys really turned up the heat as the likes of Justin Westhoff, Jasper Pittard, Chad Wingard and Travis Boak worked hard to create forward line opportunities. Round 1 NAB AFL Rising Star nominee Ollie Wines and young Jake Neade each contributed strongly in their second outings.
The Power dominated possessions and almost doubled the number of the Giants’ inside 50s at the close of play.
But the Giants ability to dominate clearances was instrumental in their ability to score quickly in the first quarter particularly and throughout the whole match generally.
Ken Hinkley described Port Adelaide’s poor clearance work as “awful” and a key area they will need to improve on ahead of Sunday’s Balfours Showdown XXXIV against the Adelaide Crows.
