Port Adelaide is thrilled to be playing its Round 8 fixture vs St Kilda as a home game at Adelaide Oval on Saturday night, July 25.
The club has played one home game – the Round 2 Showdown – in the first seven Rounds of the AFL season.
Since Round 2, Port Adelaide has played five consecutive games in Queensland with three at Metricon Stadium and two at the Gabba. The club also played its Round 1 game on the Gold Coast before the Covid shutdown in late March.
Port Adelaide chief executive Keith Thomas says the entire club is looking forward to playing again at home in front of its loyal Members and supporters.
“We can’t wait to run onto Adelaide Oval in front of our amazing Members who have been so loyal and supportive this season,” Mr Thomas said.
“Along with our dedicated corporate partners, our Members have been patiently watching the team from afar and I know they are itching to get back to Adelaide Oval to support our players.
“And it’s a great reward for our players and coaching staff who have literally been on the road for the last five weeks.
“I know they can’t wait to play again at Adelaide Oval in front of our people. The last time at Adelaide Oval was the Round 2 Showdown and it was an incredible night with only 1500 Port Adelaide members able to attend, so we can only imagine the noise 25,000 of our people will make.
“The club will communicate ticketing information direct to our Members in the coming days.”
Mr Thomas was also pleased with the timeslot for the game.
“We believe we are playing an exciting, high energy brand of football and it’s great to see that being recognised by the AFL and the broadcasters.
“A prime time free-to-air time slot is a great reward for the style of football we are playing and we are very much looking forward to the opportunity.
“And the Saturday night timeslot is preferred by our Members for our Adelaide Oval home games, so, as an entire club, we can’t wait.”
