PORT ADELAIDE big man Charlie Dixon was awarded the maximum ten votes from the coaches in the 2020 SHADFORTH FINANCIAL GROUP AFLCA CHAMPION PLAYER OF THE YEAR AWARD after his starring performance in his side’s win over Carlton on Sunday.
Dixon was the dominant forward on the ground booting three goals and four behinds to take him to the top of the Coleman Medal race.
Dixon also had 15 disposals and had a game-high 10 score involvements, eight shots on goal and took seven marks inside 50m, which no player has accomplished this season.
Port skipper Tom Jonas was given seven votes after his near faultless showing.
He had 20 disposals, two tackles and an equal game-high nine marks.
Ruckman Peter Ladhams scored himself four votes for his high-possession, high energy game in the middle, while defender Trent McKenzie got two votes and vice-captain Ollie Wines was given one vote.
Carlton youngster Sam Walsh was awarded five votes while his teammate Jacob Weitering got one.
Dixon was one of seven players league-wide to receive the perfect 10 votes. The others included Collingwood’s Jordan De Goey, Western Bulldog Tim English, Gold Coast’s Hugh Greenwood, Melbourne’s Christian Petracca, West Coast’s Josh Kennedy and St Kilda’s Jack Steele.
Despite failing to poll votes for a third straight game, Port Adelaide midfielder Travis Boak remains in fourth position overall on the leaderboard behind injured Gold Coast youngster Matt Rowell, Steele, Petracca and Brisbane’s Lachie Neale.
Neale, who failed to poll in his side’s come from behind win over St Kilda still leads by nine votes over Steele and eleven over Boak.
