PORT ADELAIDE forward Robbie Gray’s after the siren match winner against Carlton has been nominated for the 2020 Coates Hire AFL Goal of the Year.

Gray marked a pinpoint pass from club debutant Sam Mayes with 22 seconds remaining and was then forced to kick after the siren under immense pressure and on a tight angle from hard up against the boundary line about 45 metres from goal.

The 31-year-old showed all of his class, composure and skill to connect perfectly with the ball and seal what appeared late in the last quarter an unlikely victory.

The effort made up for four straight behinds kicked by Port Adelaide before that.

Gray has already won portadelaidefc.com.au’s goal of the week.

He will be aiming to join teammate Connor Rozee who won the vote for Round 5’s goal of the year.

The other Round 7 nominees for Goal of the Year are Collingwood’s Jordan De Goey and Western Bulldog debutant Cody Weightman.
