PORT ADELAIDE is excited by the latest AFL fixture release which will see the club play four games in 15 days.
Port Adelaide will start the next series of games with a Round 9 Thursday night clash against Melbourne at the Gabba, followed by a Monday night game at Adelaide Oval against the Western Bulldogs, a Saturday twilight matchup with Richmond at Adelaide Oval and culminating with a Round 12 Friday night fixture against Geelong at the Gabba.
Port Adelaide chief executive Keith Thomas says the club is willing to play anyone, anywhere at any time to keep the competition moving forward.
“As a club we understand the complexities of putting together this fixture and we are aware that games will need to be compressed into a tighter schedule,” Mr Thomas said.
“Our players and football department have no issues in playing four games, in just over two weeks. It’s consistent across the competition and we have to do what it takes to keep this competition moving forward.”
Mr Thomas said the club was delighted to be recognised with three standalone games from Rounds 9 to 12, two of which will feature on national free-to-air television.
“Ken and the coaches have our players playing an exciting brand of football at the moment and we look forward to showcasing this on the national stage across the next few weeks.
“To have three standalone national free-to-air games, starting with this weekend’s Saturday night game against St Kilda, is a great reward for our entire club and loyal corporate partners.
“And of course, we are looking forward to playing more home games in front of our loyal Members in the back half of the season, starting with this Saturday night.
“Close to 19,000 Member tickets were allocated on the first day of release for this Saturday’s game and we expect all the remaining tickets to be exhausted by early tomorrow.”
