Two of the club’s favourite former players have new off-field roles at the club.

Power premiership player Matthew Bishop has returned to take on the role of Football Administration Officer. Bishop, will replace another former Power player Stuart Cochrane, who has filled the role of Player Welfare & Development Officer which was recently vacated by David Hutton.

Bishop was welcomed back to the club with open arms when he started today, having been a much-loved part of the team from 2000 until 2006, including being part of the 2004 premiership.

Bishop has an accounting degree and completed post-grad marketing studies, and has been working at an accounting firm since his football career finished.

He will be responsible for a lot of the day-to-day admin roles that support the entire football department, including being the team manager on match-days.

“We’re thrilled to have Matthew on board,” said Power General Manager – Football Operations, Peter Rohde.

“We think it’s really important for the culture of the club, to continue to look to involve past players who are not only quality people but talented people as well.

“Bish has had 18 months out now and worked in the commercial world, and he will certainly add to our football group.

“Stuart Cochrane has been outstanding during his time at the club and has earned his step up to the Player Welfare & Development Officer role.”

Cochrane will continue his match-day role as a runner, while Bishop will also have an extra match-day role (aside from his team manager duties) involving statistics in the coach’s box, previously held by David Hutton, and Daniel Bryant before him.
