IT’S draft week and here at PortAdelaideFC.com.au we’ll be taking you through the history of the Power’s three active draft picks - 8, 9 and 16.

Today, the focus is on our first pick, number 8 - the pick the Power received as a result of finishing 10th on the AFL ladder.

Since Port Adelaide entered the AFL in 1997, pick 8 has produced a Brownlow Medallist (Jimmy Bartel), three Premiership players (Bartel, Joel Corey and Jude Bolton), three All-Australians (Bartel, Corey and Chris Tarrant) and three Australian representatives (Bolton, Corey and Daniel Motlop).

Pick 8 has played an average of 82 games, with Jude Bolton’s 233 games the most of any pick 8 (since 1996).

Check back on Tuesday and Wednesday this week to see the history of picks 9 and 16, which we received as part of the trade for Shaun Burgoyne.
