PORT Adelaide played North Melbourne in the 2007 AFL Preliminary Final, destroying the Kangaroos’ Grand Final hopes with an 87 point thrashing.

After surprising the football world by finishing second on the minor round premiership table with such a young team, the Power proved it was still a force despite finishing 12th in 2006 and being beaten by cross-town rivals, Adelaide in the 2005 Semi Final.

The crowd was wowed with Port Adelaide’s stellar performance against the Kangaroos with club heroes Shaun Burgoyne and Chad Cornes leading the way across the field.

Coached by Mark Williams and captained by Warren Tredrea, the skipper combined with Brett Ebert and Daniel Motlop to kick three goals apiece and Troy Chaplin managed a massive 32 possessions.

This was the Power’s second win against the Kangaroos in a final.
