PORT Adelaide captain Dom Cassisi has given an early indication that Alipate Carlile will be the man trusted with stopping the Lance Franklin juggernaut on Sunday.

Franklin was simply awesome against North Melbourne on Saturday, booting a career-high 13 goals, which catapulted him into the lead for the Coleman Medal.

However, Carlile was a pillar of strength for the Power against Carlton in their 54-point win and his captain backed the Fijian-born defender to curtail Franklin.

"There's not too many guys that can run as fast as 'Buddy' and have the athletic ability," Cassisi said.

"But 'Bobby' (Carlile) is a smart defender and he's played him really well in the past, so Bobby will probably have a few sleepless nights towards the end of the week but I've got total confidence in him.

"I'm sure Bobby will do a great job on him."

Cassisi also hinted Franklin may find himself double-teamed but insisted the best way to curb Buddy and his fellow Hawthorn forwards was to cut off their supply.

"If we can produce what we did on the weekend, in terms of winning stoppage and contested footy then that will stem his supply," he said.

"It's going to take a whole-team effort to try and curb his influence on the game."

The Power will enter Sunday's clash in their best form for some time.

Their third consecutive win at the weekend equalled their best run since the end of the 2010 season, but Cassisi said it was the manner in which they sustained the rage for the entire game against Carlton that will hold them in good stead.

"That was the really pleasing thing - our ability to perform well for four quarters," he said.

"I thought our intensity around the footy, to win stoppages against their midfield was a big tick for us, but our overall team pressure was the thing that got us over the line.

"The challenge is to do it again this week."

Against the Blues, young midfielder Hamish Hartlett took a huge step towards fulfilling his immense potential.

The No.4 pick at the 2008 NAB AFL Draft was on fire, finishing with 26 disposals and three goals, including one bomb from inside the centre square.

"Hamish has got some incredible football ability," Cassisi said.

"Not too many guys kick a football like Hamish, so his challenge now is to do it week in week out ... he puts a massive amount of pressure on himself to be a great player."

Port should regain the services of midfielder John McCarthy for the match, after he missed the weekend's game with a corked calf.

But they might be without key forward Jay Schulz, who was described as a 50-50 chance after bruising his ribs against the Blues.
