MICHAEL Pettigrew has continued his strong start in the forward line for West Adelaide, impressing in the Bloods’ win over South and being the SANFL Power Player of the Week.

Pettigrew has made a smooth transition from defence to attack in 2010 and has consistently amongst the goals for the Bloods. Development coaches Darren Trevena and Garry Hocking have been impressed with his attack on the ball and his fierce defensive pressure.

The award is judged by the Power development coaches Garry and is announced exclusively at PortAdelaideFC.com.au each week.

The Camerons - Hitchcock and Cloke - backed up strong showings in Round 6 with impressive displays in Round 7. The full wrap is below.

SANFL Player of the Week
Michael Pettigrew (for West v South @ Noarlunga) - Petters looked lively up forward, attacking the ball well and presenting strongly on the lead. Worked hard defensively to hold the ball inside the forward 50 and was rewarded with a few shots on goal. Finished the day with 16 possessions, 3 marks, 2 tackles and 2.2.

Daniel Webb (for West v South @ Noarlunga) - Played ruck and forward jumped in well at the centre bounce. He tackled well but still needs to work on his influence around the ground and at stoppages once he’s brought the ball to ground. Had 6 touches, 6 tackles and 8 hitouts.

Matt Lobbe (for West v South @ Noarlunga) - Started slowly but worked his way into the game very well. Jumped in hard at the centre bounce and won some contested footy at the stoppages. Had an impact around the ground with his high work rate. Didn’t have a huge number of possessions with 10, but 6 tackles and 17 hitouts shows how good his work ethic was.

Cameron Cloke (for Port v Central @ Alberton) - Started up forward and led well despite limited attacks from the Maggies. Moved into the ruck and looked good, especially at centre bounces. When he was in the ruck he also pushed back to help the defence out. Finished the day with 12 touches, 16 hitouts and a goal.

Jay Nash (for Central v Port @ Alberton) - Nashy had another good game using the ball well, especially at kick-ins. Ran and carried the ball well from half back and had 7 inside 50s. Continued his impressive form and he’ll again come under consideration.

Nick Salter (for Eagles v North @ Woodville) - Over the past two weeks he hasn’t quite been up to the standard he set at the start of the year, but he’s still been able to have some impact on the game. Led hard but didn’t always get used with Schulz and Welsh getting used more. Moved to centre half back in the last quarter and had good intensity. Got reported for charging and will miss one week through suspension.

Jay Schulz (for Eagles v North @ Woodville) - Schulzy was the pick of the forwards for the Eagles, working hard all day and getting 3 goals as a reward. He finished with 15 possessions, 6 marks and 2 goal assists. He looked strong on the lead and it was good to see him go back to the SANFL with the right attitude. He'll be a real chance for selection this week.

Mitch Banner (for Eagles v North @ Woodville) - Another solid game for Mitch especially at the stoppages. Covered the ground well with 20 possessions and also had 3 goal assists. He’s settling into a different environment under the new coach and is starting to look comfortable.

Daniel Stewart (for North v Eagles @ Woodville) - A tough day for Stewy in a heavy loss. He tried hard up forward and had a spell in the ruck. Took a great contested mark in the goal square and continues to improve his work rate around the ground. Finished with 7 kicks, 3 marks and 1.2.

Cameron Hitchcock (for Glenelg v Norwood @ the Parade) - A good game on the half forward flank with an impressive work rate. Read the game well and worked hard to get to contests. Had a good impact on the game with 8 inside 50s and some good defensive pressure to hold the ball in. Finished with 14 possessions and a goal and should be pushing for selection this week.

Josh Carr (for Glenelg v Norwood @ the Parade) - A good game from Josh, looking strong around the clearances. He worked hard around the ground and hunted the ball well. Had 21 possessions, 2 tackles and 5 clearances. Continues to impress at SANFL level.

Danny Meyer (for Glenelg v Norwood @ the Parade) - Danny had a lot of energy about his game on the weekend and showed some good signs again off a half back flank. Used the ball well and also pushed forward to kick a couple of goals. Was forced to go back in the second half to mark Phillips. Had 13 possessions, 3 marks and 2 tackles.

Wade Thompson (for North reserves v Eagles reserves @ Woodville) - Looked sharp playing on the wing and up forward. Kicked a nice snap after outrunning his opponent. Finished the day with four goals and continued his good form from the last quarter last week.

Glenn Dawson (for Eagles reserves v North reserves @ Woodville) - A good day for the Cougar booting 4.2. He had a real impact inside the forward 50, chasing and tackling well and jumping well at the contest. His second and third efforts have been really good over the past month and he needs to continue that.
