It was an early start for the team on day two of the pre-season camp in New Zealand, with travel weary players waking up to pack and prepare for a long hike through the mountains near Christchurch.

The camp - which the club also completed at the end of 2003 - is aimed at pushing players to their limits, physically and mentally, while testing their leadership.

This year’s group was split into seven teams with team captains assigned the role of navigating their team through the rough terrain of Peel Forrest.

In previous years, teams have become disoriented, with tour leader Grant South revealing one team didn’t arrive at base camp until midnight - a 15 hour hike.
