NICK Salter will make his long-awaited return from injury in the SANFL this weekend.

Salter has been plagued by a foot injury for much of 2012, first injuring it during the NAB Cup clash with West Coast before being forced to undergo surgery in what doctor’s referred to as a ‘freak occurrence’ of the same fracture.

The versatile 24-year-old will return through the Eagles reserves side, which face the Magpies at Alberton.

Port Adelaide’s SANFL side will be without Power listed players John Butcher and Steven Salopek for the Round 13 clash.

General Manager - Football Operations Peter Rohde explained Butcher’s situation.

“Butch has been rested to manage his workload,” Rohde said.

“It’s likely he’ll have plenty of work to do in the second half of the year at AFL level, especially with Schulzy out.”

Salopek will miss again with a knee injury.

“He was close this week, but he’ll have another week off and hopefully be right to play next week,” Rohde said.

South Adelaide have the bye in the SANFL, meaning Alipate Carlile and Cam O’Shea will have the weekend off, but there’ll still be a number of Power players in SANFL action at the weekend.

Cam Hitchcock will play for Glenelg at the Bay as they face Central Disctrict while Aaron Young, Daniel Stewart and Nathan Blee will line-up for North against Sturt at Prospect.

David Rodan and Tom Jonas will do battle with Power teammates Matt Lobbe and Daniel Webb at Richmond Oval as West face Norwood.

Brendon Ah Chee and Jarrad Irons will face off at Alberton when the Magpies face the Eagles while Ben Newton will miss for the Bloods with a quad injury.

Jasper Pittard will continue his return from a hamstring injury for Sturt’s reserves alongside rookie-listed ruckman Mitch Curnow.
