Port Adelaide forward Jay Schulz remains in a Melbourne hospital after suffering an abdominal injury in Sunday’s game against the Western Bulldogs.

Schulz was struck in the stomach by a team-mate’s knee during a marking contest in the second quarter at Etihad Stadium.

The 27-year-old was admitted to intensive care following the game and scans revealed isolated internal bleeding which doctors believe has now stopped.

Schulz will be moved on Monday to a general medical ward where he is likely to remain for several days and continue to be closely monitored.

While the extent of the injury is still being assessed, it is likely he will miss several weeks of football.

The injury is not related to the bruising Schulz suffered to his ribs during the Power’s Round 10 clash with Carlton.
