Peter Jackson SANFL Report: Round 5
Kane Mitchell impresses the coaches again against the Crows.
Peter Jackson Player of the Week
Kane Mitchell
Continues to impress each week and had another very strong performance in the midfield against the Crows. Kane is really developing his game and made an impact at stoppage as well as getting three shots on goal. Kane is really enjoying the contest and is playing with real confidence.
Player reviews
Andrew Moore
Moorey is gaining form each week he plays. He matched up against Ellis-Yolmen and provided good stoppage numbers and was able to get free at times to run and carry the ball. Good possession around the ground and ended up with 24 disposals with most being really efficient for us.
Karl Amon
This was probably Karl’s best game for the year from a consistency point of view. He worked real hard over the four quarters and put his body in over the ball much better this week.
Mitch Harvey
Showing some promising signs with three goals. It’s tough for him to play forward and then go jump in the ruck at times. I have no doubt that this will develop him quickly as well as help him become confident and provide a target consistently for us at this level.
Steven Summerton
A little less possession this week but he did really hurt the Crows when he had the ball in his hands. A good mix of inside and outside ball and always looks to bring his teammates into the game.
Robbie Young
Youngy was very courageous this week. He went into the game with a broken nose from a training incident, but really applied pressure to the opposition plus provided run and pace in offence.
Angus Bruggemann
Lined up on Angus Graham early and was very competitive to a point where we needed to get him forward to assist us in getting some contests deep. We love his flexibility and the away he attacks the ball in the air.
Ben Haren
Ben has been very consistent for us this year, again he was dangerous up forward finishing with three goals. Like 'Bruggers' he can play different roles for us and he looks to be enjoying his footy.
Tom Logan
Great job on a classy small forward in Cameron this week by keeping him to one goal and looked to help out in offence as well. Tom is in great form and is really giving great voice and direction out on the ground to our younger players.
Tom Clurey
It was a game of two halves for Tom. He kept Walker restricted up until half time and then allowed Tex a little too much space at times. That said, it was a great learning curve for him playing on a quality AFL forward.
Zac Hawkins
A solid performance from Zac this week working hard around the ground and helping to setup some good forward plays. Zac is so enthusiastic and always looks to learn or get better each week.
Brent Renouf
Was really pleased with his general play game this week, he really looked to get around the ground with more confidence and intensity. He was a little disappointing with his ruck contests but he did compete hard and looked to give us first use.
Campbell Heath
Had the matchup on Lewis Johnston this week and did really well. I felt he attacked the ball in the air and had good positioning against his opponent. He has returned to form quickly since returning from injury.
John Butcher
Had Rutten as his match up. John presented well up at the ball and finished with two goals. The big improvement needed from him now is to compete and have intensity in his game over four quarters.
Anthony Biemans
A little down on output this week from Anthony due to being played in a few different positions, but I’m sure he will bounce back and give his all against Sturt.
Cam O’Shea
Great game by Cam, showed some very courageous attacks on the ball in the air, one in particular when he went back and stood in front of a leading Tex Walker. Used the ball well and gave us some real drive out of defence.
Daniel Flynn
Flynny took some time to adjust to the pace of the game but when he did get hold of the ball he gave some real speed and excitement to our ball movement. He will learn lots over the next few months and we expect him to turn into a very good player for us.
Sam Gray
Sam’s first game back from AFL duties was OK, he worked hard in and around stoppage and he was able to impact on the scoreboard with two goals.
Nathan Krakouer
Very good game from Krak repelling many of the Crows' attacks and he used the ball well when we were under pressure in the back half. He looks really committed to playing strongly at this level and its great to see him back in the prisonbar guernsey.
Jake Neade
Neadey looked really sharp early and used the ball well through the midfield and inside 50. He brought AFL-standard pressure to the opposition's ball movement and he is waiting now for his chance to be recalled into the AFL side.
Henry Slattery
Henry came back into the team after a week off due to injury, I would like to see him work and run harder over the four quarters but his leadership and direction is outstanding and helps us out structurally.
