PORT Adelaide’s Steven Salopek will not play with SANFL club Glenelg this week after being omitted from its league team for the second time this season

Salopek will not play in the reserves against the Magpies at Glenelg Oval on Friday night, with Port Adelaide requesting he be rested from competition.

The 26-year-old played 12 games with the Power in 2011 including the last six of the season, but has missed out on AFL selection in 2012.

Salopek was first dropped to Glenelg’s reserves in April, a move that surprised Port Adelaide coach Matthew Primus.

We thought his form had been good the last three weeks," Primus said at the time.

"So we were a bit shocked by it.

"We thought Steven's form was good enough to put him amongst our (AFL) selection."

Glenelg was defeated by Central District by 75 points last Saturday night at Elizabeth.
