Following a report in the media on Friday night, Chad Cornes and the Port Adelaide Football Club have issued the following public statements…STATEMENT FROM CHAD CORNESI confirm a very minor incident happened last Friday when Kane and I were helping our mum move out of the home she shared with Fred, her estranged husband.I acknowledge the break-up of a marriage is a difficult time for all and know it has been a very difficult time for Mum and Fred. But I am disappointed that a very minor altercation involving myself and Fred, which was no more than a push, occurred at all.I’m particularly disappointed that Fred has felt the need to make this private family matter public.I know it’s a difficult time for both Mum and Fred. Both Kane and I were simply trying to help mum and were assisting her with her move out of the home she formerly shared with Fred.I’m hopeful the matter will be resolved quickly. Given the matter is being examined and that it involves my mum, I do not wish to comment any further at this time.STATEMENT FROM THE PORT ADELAIDE FOOTBALL CLUBWe’re aware of an incident between Chad and his mum’s estranged husband Fred Phillis which happened when Chad was helping his mum move furniture out of the marital home she formerly shared with Mr Phillis. We have not spoken to all parties, but believe the matter to be minor and essentially a family issue.Mr Phillis filed a complaint with police which is being examined. Chad and Kane, who was also helping his mum, have assured the club they will assist with that process to resolve this matter. As the matter is still being examined, the club has no further comment at this point.
