PORT ADELAIDE will kick off the 2007 finals series when it hosts West Coast in the second qualifying final at AAMI Stadium on Friday night (7:50pm ACST).

The Power’s 32-point win over Fremantle secured the club’s first home final since the premiership year of 2004.

Both teams will be coming off a six-day break, but football operations manager Peter Rohde said the Friday night fixture was “perfect” for Port Adelaide.

“Obviously our opposition have the same break and being at home, it’s perfect for us,” Rohde said.

“We’re very happy to play the Friday night and we’ve earned the right to play at home, so it’s pretty much as we expected.”

More than 39,000 Port Adelaide fans turned out for the Power’s clash with the Dockers on Saturday night, and Rohde was confident next week’s mouth-watering spectacle between second and third would attract another big crowd.

“There’s no doubt people were there last week [against Fremantle] and going into a home final, having finished second on the ladder, there’s certainly some excitement around the place,” he said.

"West Coast are a very experienced finals team having played all the way through the past two finals series, so they’ve got a bit of an advantage there. We still have some of our players from 2004, but we have a few young guys as well and it will be great experience for them.”

The winner of Friday night’s game will advance directly to the preliminary final, while the loser will play the winner of the Sydney-Collingwood clash.
