DAVID Rodan has continued to impress in his return to football, winning the SANFL Power Player of the Week Award for Round 3.

Rodan played his second game since returning from LARS surgery in December, winning plenty of the ball with 18 touches and impressing the development coaches with his agility. PTV has all the highlights of Rodan in action in the SANFL as well as comments from Darren Trevena, watch it here.

The award is judged by Power development coaches Garry Hocking and Darren Trevena and is announced exclusively at PortAdelaideFC.com.au each week.

Matt Lobbe and Daniel Webb were the other standout performers in Round 3, the big men showing good signs in West’s loss to Central at Elizabeth. The full wrap is below.

SANFL Player of the Week
David Rodan (for Norwood v Eagles @ Woodville) - D-Rod had another very good game. He picked up his intensity a bit this week and spent a bit more time on the ball. Impressed with his turn of pace and his agility and really built on last week with 18 possessions, 6 tackles and a goal. He’s looking like he’s ready for AFL and will be a good chance to play on Sunday.

Nick Salter (for Eagles v Norwood @ Woodville) - Salts played forward all day and found it difficult as the Redlegs put a lot of numbers behind the ball. Didn’t have any space in which to work but we were still impressed with his work rate throughout four quarters. Finished the day with 18 possessions and 1.2.

Matthew Broadbent (for Eagles v Norwood @ Woodville) - Broady started on a wing and worked his way into the game well, finishing on the ball where he was able to get a few good clearances. Had 24 possessions and continues to work hard all day, especially on the defensive aspects of his game.

Danny Meyer (for Glenelg v Sturt @ Unley) - Danny keeps developing his game each week on the half back line. He’s improving his contested possessions and his defensive pressure. Still able to get plenty of the ball and uses it well a majority of the time. Finished with 12 kicks, 7 handballs and 6 marks.

Josh Carr (for Glenelg v Sturt @ Unley) - Not quite as prolific this week but still worked very hard for his touches. The Sturt midfield focused on keeping him away from the ball at stoppages which quelled his influence. Was still able to amass 18 possessions.

Jasper Pittard (for Sturt v Glenelg @ Unley) - Jasper made his league debut on the weekend and was very impressive. Racked up 25 possessions and showed some good speed and evasiveness. Sturt coach Luke Norman was very impressed with the debut and we’ll be looking for him to build on that next week with another solid performance.

Jay Nash (for Central v West @ Elizabeth) - Solid game from Nashy, using the ball well and attacking off the half back line. Had 18 possessions, 6 marks and will be looking to build on that next week.

Matt Lobbe (for West v Central @ Elizabeth) - A very good game from Matty. He jumped in hard at the ruck contest against good opposition in Griffin and Buckets Mackenzie. Won his fair share of hitouts to advantage and worked around the ground to get his touches. Finished with 16 hitouts, 4 tackles, 5 marks and 14 possessions.

Michael Pettigrew (for West v Central @ Elizabeth) - Looked good when the ball was in his area but needs to work harder for his touches. Started forward before moving down back. Finshed the game with 12 possessions, 3 marks and a goal.

Daniel Webb (for West v Central @ Elizabeth) - Up in the league this week, he started down back and looked a little bit lost at times. He moved forward and had a great impact, booting 4 goals. He took a few contested marks and looked comfortable at SANFL level. He’s taken some big strides over the past month, very pleasing.

Scott Harding (for West v Central @ Elizabeth) - Looked better this week, finding a bit more of the ball and lifting his defensive pressure. He looks good when he has the ball and will be able to find a bit more of it as he gets a bit more game time under his belt.

Daniel Stewart (for North v Port @ Alberton) - Despite a good work ethic, he didn’t have a big impact on the game. Wasn’t used by teammates at times but still didn’t get frustrated, just continued to lead hard and do all the things we expect from him. He’ll be pushing for selection again this week.

Andrew Moore (for North v Port @ Alberton) - A very solid game for Moorey with 25 possessions on a wing and half back. Worked hard for his touches with 7 handball receives. Still working on his decision making but overall a very pleasing performance.

Hamish Hartlett (for West reserves v Central reserves @ Elizabeth) - A good hitout for Hammer picking up 18 possessions to go with 7 tackles and 2 behinds. Importantly, he again got through unscathed. Used the ball well and will be pushing for selection this week.

Jarrad Redden (for Eagles reserves v Norwood reserves @ Woodville) - Jarrad is improving each week and his ruck work on the weekend was really good. Had a number of hitouts to advantage and looked confident when he went forward. Kicked a nice goal where he assessed the situation beautifully and slotted it from a bit of an angle. He’s improving his positioning when he fills the hole in defence and Mick Godden has said he’ll be pushing for league selection with this form.

Glenn Dawson (for Eagles reserves v Norwood reserves @ Woodville) - Competed well inside the forward 50 and should have kicked 5 goals on the day, missing a couple of set shots to finish with 2.3. He’s getting more attention from the opposition with his goal-kicking form and is standing up for himself in the physical stakes quite well, showing a bit more aggression. Finished with 13 touches and 5 tackles to go with his 2 goals.
