The major revamp of the much-loved Fos Williams Family Stand at Alberton Oval will be finished just in time for the 2016 SANFL season.
The repairs, which commenced in November this year, are expected to be completed by the end of February 2016.
Over the years the City of Port Adelaide and Enfield has allocated small funding efforts to ‘band-aid’ the grandstand’s structural issues.
In October 2014, the council's property services division put forward a proposal to commence major upgrades to maintain the fabric of the grandstand and bring back its heritage look.
The repairs and upgrades include asbestos removal, repairing the external facade of the building, re-rendering the front of the building, replacing the interior waterproof membrane and repairing stairs.

A wall built in the sixties is also being replaced to blend with original stonework.
The upgraded Fos Williams Family Stand is expected to be warmly welcomed by Port Adelaide fans, as the facelift restores part of the club's 135-year association with the Oval.
The grandstand was originally built in 1903.
