Sal In Call For AFL Brave Shavers
Steve Salopek is once again shedding his locks for the World's Greatest Shave and wants other AFL players to join in.
Salopek led a group of Power players in raising over $12,000 as part of last year's fundraising drive and is seeking players from other AFL clubs to get on board his 'AFL Shave Allstars' squad this year.
Blood cancer is the second biggest cause of cancer-related death in Australia and the Leukaemia Foundation runs the World's Greatest Shave every year to raise money to combat the disease.
Salopek is looking to personally raise $25,000 for the Leukaemia Foundation this year, and will be joined by teammates Travis Boak and Daniel Webb in the effort.
"Having worked closely with the Leukaemia Foundation over the past few years, I have seen first hand how important the funds raised from the World’s Greatest Shave are in making a brighter future for those living with a blood cancer like leukaemia, lymphoma and myeloma," he said.
"My vision is to have at least one player from each AFL Club join the AFL Shave Allstars team, and then promote their participation and raise funds through social media."
Salopek, Boak and Webb will shave their heads along with thousands of others around Australia between Thursday 15 and Saturday 17 March. To support Steven and the Leukaemia Foundation, head to Sal's Fundraising Page.
