Key-forward Damon White has won the Cibo Glenelg SANFL Player of the Week award for Round 6.

White, who played 13 games for the Power in 2007, dominated the North v South clash at Prospect on Saturday, booting 5 goals to go with 28 possessions.

The award is judged by the Power development coaches and is announced exclusively at PortAdelaideFC.com.au each Monday.

The club’s development manager Daniel Healy and development coach Darren Trevena take us through all the action from a good round of SANFL for Power players:

Cibo Glenelg SANFL Player of the Week Damon White (for North v South at Prospect) Damon had 19 kicks, 9 handballs, 9 marks and 5 goals at centre half-forward in North’s thrashing of South – he was certainly the stand-out. He ran the opposition ragged and took some really good competitive marks. Damon also had the play of the week with a couple of big pack marks.

Nathan Lonie (for North v South at Prospect) 31 touches this week to go with 6 inside 50s. Nathan continues to run hard and was used by his team-mates a bit more this week – a really good game in a 100 point win.

Gavin Grose (for North v South at Prospect) Gav played his first league game for the year at centre half-back. He shut-down his opponent who only had one goal, while Gav had it 15 times himself – a great start to his league season.

Nick Salter (for Eagles v Sturt at Thebarton)Nick kicked 3 goals and had 17 possessions playing on a half-forward flank. With Passador, Schwarze and Grocke up forward for the Eagles, Nick’s been pushed out to the flank, so he has to work a bit harder for his touches. But he is working at that and it was a pretty solid game for him.

Paul Stewart (for Eagles v Sturt at Thebarton)Probably not as good as he was the previous week – where he was fantastic – so he needs to work on his consistency. Played on the wing again but pushed back into defence a bit too much.

Fabian Deluca (for Sturt v Eagles at Thebarton) Fabian had some kicks around the ground, but we’re looking for him to step it up in the ruck and really dominate the hit-outs. He won about 50 per cent of the ruck hit-outs, but we’d like that figure to be up around 75 per cent mark.

Greg Bentley (for Sturt v Eagles at Thebarton)Very good on the half-forward flank and on the ball. Played tough and used his solid body well, but should have finished off with a couple of goals. Greg racked up 27 touches and used the ball well on his left and right foot – he’s playing some very good consistent footy at the moment.

Mitch Farmer (for Sturt v Eagles at Thebarton)Played in the back pocket on Fitzgerald, who only kicked one goal while Mitch was on him. When Mitch was moved off him, Fitzgerald kicked a couple of goals. His run and carry out of defence was excellent, as was his spoiling, so overall a solid game by Mitch.

Ryan Williams (for Central v Glenelg at Glenelg)Ryan played on the half forward flank and on-ball and had a really good game with 20 touches and a long goal at an important moment in the game. Ryan made some crucial plays in the game and is showing himself to be an accomplished SANFL player.

Nathan Krakouer (for Port v West at Alberton)Krak played on a wing and had 20 kicks. He continues to use the ball well with some beautiful kicks into the forward 50. Daniel Hargraeves kicked 7 goals and a lot of them were a result of Krakouer hitting him on the chest perfectly. He continues to impress us and push for selection.

Ryan Willits (for West v Port at Alberton)Ryan played his second good game in a row taking 12 marks at centre half-forward for Westies. He had 19 kicks and a goal and again presented really well.

Jonathan Giles (for Central reserves v Glenelg reserves at Glenelg) He’s been out of form, but had a really pleasing game on the weekend. Gilesy had 16 touches, 6 marks and 43 hit-outs, absolutely dominating the ruck contests. Hopefully, if he can keep that form up he’ll be back in the league side before he knows it.

Daniel Boyle (for Central reserves v Glenelg reserves at Glenelg)Boyley again ran, carried and took the game on. He made a couple of uncharacteristic errors but still had 18 touches as well as 8 bounces. He continues to look exciting when he has the ball.

Matt Lobbe (for Port reserves v West reserves at Alberton)He played at centre half-back and had his best game for the year. Matt had 24 touches and 12 marks and really found some form, which was pleasing. He got a heavy knock in the first quarter, but he bounced back, running well and spoiling well. This is the sort of form we’ve been hoping for and it’s good to see him deliver. He’s played in the back lines for two weeks now and we wanted to put him back there so he could start feeling comfortable running forward and reading the play. We feel this is the best position for him to adapt to the SANFL and learn about the game. We’re happy with how he’s picked up the new position.

Marlon Motlop (for North reserves v South reserves at Prospect)Marlon played on the wing – a new position for him and he found it hard to adjust, but he had 8 chases and 6 tackles. He continues to impress and hopefully a league spot is just around the corner.
