The Port Adelaide Football Club confirms that the club has received one nomination for the Port Adelaide Football Club Board for one member-elected position.

Accordingly, the club confirms there will be no election and is pleased to advise that incumbent Director Bruce Abernethy will continue on the Power’s Board for the next three years.

Abernethy, who played 190 games with the club, including seven premierships and a best and fairest, has been on the club’s Board for the past three years.

As previously advised, the Port Adelaide Football Club Board will be reduced from ten members to eight in 2009. It will still be made up of 50 per cent member-elected positions and 50 per cent appointed by the SANFL commission.

Two Board members – Greg Boulton (member-elected) and Tony Hobby (SANFL Commission-elected) – will be retiring following the club’s Annual General Meeting on 15 December, leaving the club with the new Board structure of eight Directors.

One position is available through the SANFL Commission. Current President-elect Brett Duncanson is up for re-election this year. Nominations to the SANFL Commission close today, 5 December. The SANFL Commission will make its appointment on Wednesday 17 December
