West Coast has defeated Port Adelaide by 48 points at AAMI Stadium in Round 21

First quarter

The Eagles won the toss and kicked with the aid of a slight breeze in the first quarter.

Both sides squandered opportunities early with Jay Schulz missing a pair of set shots for the Power from kickable angles.

Shannon Hurn broke the goal draught in the 12th minute after a harsh 50m penalty against Matt Thomas gave him a shot at goal from just 20m out.

The Power failed to capitalise on more opportunities in front of goal with the skipper Dom Cassisi and forward Brett Ebert missing set shots.

Scott Selwood found space in the Eagles forward line and converted a set shot from 40m out before Josh Kennedy snapped a good goal after roving his own crumbs.

Paul Stewart showed great courage in a double effort on the members wing, first backing back with the flight in a marking contest before bouncing up and diving on the footy, copping a stray knee from Daniel Kerr in the process.

After several more fruitless inside 50s, the Eagles once again made the Power pay at the other end with Naitanui crumbing and snapping truly.

Both sides struggled to put any score on the board through the middle parts of the quarter before Justin Westhoff put the Power’s second goal on the board courtesy of a 50m penalty.

It was a defensive stuggle through the middle parts of the quarter before Chad Wingard put his head over the ball, earned the free kick and converted.

Brett Ebert kicked the Power’s fourth after some great defensive pressure and the margin could have been cut to just four goals had Jay Schulz converted just before three quarter time.
