Hi Mark The pressure on the opposition ball carrier I believe really set the game trend early in the game. Was that a planned tactic? How do we go about maintaining such a presence around the ball this week against Richmond?
Danny Cardone

MARK WILLIAMS: Every week is a different week in football. You don’t play the same team with the same players or at the same location. Ideally, each club, including ours goes out to put a lot of pressure on the opposition so they make mistakes. It worked very well this week and we intend to try to make it work very well again next week but we’ll have to wait to see if that happens.

Mark, do you now focus not only on winning but also percentage as at least one team, possibly two will miss out on finals action because of inferior percentage?
Anthony

MARK WILLIAMS: Percentage is important and if you get the chance to finish off the game and it doesn’t adversely influence your ability to win the next game, you’d hope to continue on. But you certainly wouldn’t put into jeopardy a player who might carry an injury into the following week for example.

Hi Mark. Great four quarter effort by the whole team on Saturday, a joy to be at the ground watching the momentum build going forward. One thing I have noticed happening a few times this year is our defenders being caught holding the ball trying to create something out of nothing. I know it's easy to say as a spectator but do you believe there is a point where a defender has to make the decision to just clear the area with a kick wide to the 50m arc rather than get caught in front of goal?
Geoff Scarborough

MARK WILLIAMS: It’s fantastic to see our players play with great endeavor and with the courage to play on. Even if they make a few blues but they still creatively rebound the ball so many times, you would rather have that. We’re all frustrated with the one or two times it happens but I’d like to think people are yelling at them to kick the ball before they get in that position.

Hi Mark Congratulations on the great win on the weekend. Do you think Wilbur's best position is in the middle, similar to how Damien Hardwick finished his career, or in defence? Shaun Burgoyne only played 60% of the game on the weekend. Is he injured? If so, will he be rested this week? Thanks
Vincent Rignanese

MARK WILLIAMS: Michael is a very good player in both positions and we use him each week in the position that we think we most need him. Due to the fact that Shaun had copped a couple of knocks during the game we thought it was appropriate to give him a bit of time out since he is such a vital player for us and it also gave David Rodan, Travis Boak, Danyle Pearce and even Jacob Surjan more time in the midfield too which is important for us.

CHOCO’S PLAYER OF THE DAY: all played well

MARK WILLIAMS: I think Chad Cornes was the best player, very closely followed by David Rodan, Daniel Motlop, Justin Westhoff, Kane Cornes.... we had an exceptional group of players. It was very much a team effort. Just like back in the old school days, it was all played well. In the same mould, all entrants will be in the draw for the prize this week.

You can win a $29 PrePay recharge voucher and $9.95 starter pack thanks to Vodafone, as well as a $50 Power Gear Shop voucher by predicting Choco’s player of the day. Everyone who attends the Power home games has the opportunity to send an SMS predicting which player they think Choco will nominate as his player of the day. If you’re right you will be in the draw to win those prizes.
