POWER youngster Travis Boak is destined for success according to teammate Chad Cornes.

Cornes paid the talented midfielder the highest compliment on Monday when he declared that Boak, who is in just his second season of AFL, would one day win the Brownlow Medal.

“I’ve said it and I think [my brother] Kane’s said it as well- Trav will win a Brownlow before he’s finished footy,” Cornes told radio 5AA.

“That’s how much we rate him down at the club. I don’t want to put too much pressure on him, but he’s a gun. His fitness is unbelievable and his skills are getting better every week.

“Every game he plays, he’s slowly getting better and I’m a big rap for him.”

Boak started the 2007 season in the Glenelg reserves, but after being named an emergency with the Power five times, finally made his AFL debut in round 12.

Port Adelaide’s equal-highest ever draft pick (number five, 2006) has not missed a game since and is averaging 19 touches a game this season.

Last week, Boak kicked two goals and showed maturity beyond his 19 years to set up a potentially match-winning goal to Daniel Motlop in the third quarter.

“Travis has been a wonderful selection and full credit to the recruiting staff for getting him here,” coach Mark Williams said.

“He’s come along quite nicely and I know he’s got so much more improvement in him. He’s right up there with the best we’ve ever had in regards to his willingness to listen and work hard.

“He’ll get to where he’s supposed to get to, don’t worry about that.”
