After representing Essendon, including playing in their premiership side of 2000, Hardwick made the move to Port Adelaide at the end of the 2001 season. He immediately established himself as a vital component in a stingy Port Adelaide defensive unit, playing in the Premiership year of 2004 before retiring after tasting premiership glory for the second time, having also played in the Dons’ win in 2000.
