PORT ADELAIDE superstar Robbie Gray is confident his side can back up its performance against West Coast when it faces North Melbourne on Friday night.
Port - hosting its 16th consecutive ANZAC Round clash - must match the intensity the Kangaroos will bring after a disappointing loss to Essendon last week, according to Gray.
“It’s really important for us to back it up and bring that same mindset,” Gray said on SEN SA’s Breakfast.
“We know North are under the pump a little bit and they will be coming over to get a great result.
“They are under a fair bit of pressure, so we expect them to come out hard and we have to match them.
“We have to play the same way we did last week and bring that pressure and play that same game-style.
“We think if we bring that, we will put in a really strong performance.”
The 31-year-old isn’t sure who will get the defensive role on him this weekend, but knows close friend Jasper Pittard will be circling.
“I normally get Marley (Williams),” he said.
“I did get Scott Thompson a little bit in the JLT but we will have a few talls down forward.
“Jasper (Pittard) will be floating around down there somewhere.”
It is the first time Pittard will be playing against his former side, and Gray says it will be a strange feeling seeing him run around Adelaide Oval in North colours.
“Jasper was a very popular player of our club,” he said.
“Personally, I’m still good mates with Jasper and I’ve been in touch with him a fair bit.
“It will be interesting to see him out on Adelaide Oval in opposition colours.”
