FIVE Port Adelaide players received votes from the coaches in the 2020 SHADFORTH FINANCIAL GROUP AFLCA CHAMPION PLAYER OF THE YEAR AWARD after the club’s win over the Western Bulldogs on Monday night.
Zak Butters was the pick of the Port players, earning seven votes for his performance.
The 19-year-old collected a career-high 24 disposals, three clearances and six marks and led the way for Port with his pressure and desperation.
He finished with six score involvements and four tackles for the night.
Defenders Tom Jonas and Tom Clurey got four and three votes respectively from the coaches for their resolute defending under immense Bulldogs’ pressure, while ruckman Peter Ladhams and forward Charlie Dixon were also in the votes with Ladhams receiving three and Dixon two.
The Bulldogs were well served by their midfield on the night and that was reflected in the votes with Jack Macrae and (seven votes) and Marcus Bontempelli (four votes) polling for the visitors.
Travis Boak remains in second place in the overall standings with several games to come in Round 10 to complete the votes.
